Epoxy or sublimation what is the difference?

Epoxy tumblers and sublimation tumblers are both popular choices for customized drinkware. However, there are significant differences between these two methods.

Epoxy Tumbler: An epoxy tumbler involves applying a layer of epoxy resin onto a stainless steel tumbler, which gives it a smooth and glossy finish. This process requires mixing two-part epoxy resin, pouring it onto the tumbler, and using a stir stick to spread it evenly. Glitter, mica powder, or other additives can be added to the epoxy mixture to create a unique design. Once the epoxy dries, it forms a hard, durable coating on the tumbler. The process can take several days and involves sanding between coats for a smooth finish. Epoxy tumblers are durable but should not be dropped and do need to be handled with care to not crack the epoxy coating.

Sublimation Tumbler: Sublimation tumblers involve using a special printer, ink, and heat press to transfer a design onto the tumbler's surface. A sublimation printer prints the design onto transfer paper using sublimation ink, and the paper is then wrapped around the tumbler. The tumbler is then placed in a heat press, which transfers the ink onto the surface of the tumbler. The process results in a permanent, high-quality, and full-color design that will not fade, crack or peel. Sublimation tumblers are ideal for creating intricate designs, photos, and logos.

In summary, the main difference between epoxy and sublimation tumblers is the method used to create the design. Epoxy tumblers involve applying a layer of epoxy resin, while sublimation tumblers involve using a specialized printer and heat press to transfer a design onto the tumbler's surface. Epoxy tumblers are ideal for creating a scratch-resistant and durable finish, while sublimation tumblers are perfect for creating intricate designs and full-color photos. Ultimately, both methods can produce beautiful and unique tumblers that are sure to impress.
